... .... .... .. Diamond doves are available in a variety of mutations and colors. Approximately 17 are known at this time. Some are common and readily available while others are quite rare. All the following mutations were first bred by foreign dove breeders and then imported into the US. The only exception I am aware of is the Snow-White Diamond dove which originated at Acadiana Aviaries through the work of Garrie Landry. I enjoy the unique in breeding Diamond Doves and always strive to improve on the quality of color and type. I try to select the finest examples of the mutations in order to breed from. The following are descriptions of the mutations and color phases, along with some genetic information formulated with the help of Garrie.
I have also included (Price Ranges) with the descriptions. These are RANGES and by no means dictate what I sell my Diamond doves for or anyone else for that matter. They are simply ranges I have seen the various mutations sell for over the last year or so. I supply this information because I am asked about price ranges rather often. Please do not mistake these as a rule for anyone to follow. Market, availability and each unique situation dictates the prices birds are actually sold at and I have no desire or ability to establish or police this.

I have written a book: Diamond Doves - Their Colors and Care It is a very good guide to the mutations of the Diamond dove with full color photographs and descriptions of each of the mutations and discussions on their genetics. It also discusses the basic care and management specific to the keeping of Diamond doves. There are two full color photographs on each of the mutations. One showing the bird at rest in profile and one showing the bird held with a wing spread open. The Open-Wing detail is critical in making some of the identifications. The book is a great reference guide to Diamond dove mutations and colors.
