Finch Flight
(Click on the BLUE
framed pictures to view them enlarged.)
The finch flight
is a little shaded, being on the North side of the barn. However
the large stone barn provides a great deal of protection from
the other elements. Finches and Button quail are kept in this
flight year round.
The original
finch pair, the male is in the background, the female is lighter
in color and in the foreground. Quite a few of their offspring
were also sharing the flight.
Some of the Button
Quail living happily in the bottom of the flight.
While there
I got to see a group dirt bath. A few of the Buttons decided
an impression in the dirt would be a great bath spot. It started
with two of them on their backs and sides, pushing and shoving
at each other and kicking dirt all about. Quickly this attracted
others and before long 5 or 6 Buttons were competing for the
best position within the dirt bowl. This was quite the sight.
